my brother (non-jw but became a christian 6 months ago) and i nursed my aged jw mother back to a semblance of strength over the last three weeks.. the elders were happy to pass the buck on to me, her da'd daughter and my bro.. he has been living with her for 3 months and has transformed her ill-kept home and garden and literally nursed her like a professional alone.
before i stepped in to help him care for her.
he repeatedly told her how much he loved her and was so caring, it brought a lump to my throat.. he has been going to church sunday mornings, telling her he 'was meeting up with friends' so as not to cause friction.but she knew where he had been.. we noticed a shift in her demeanour towards us (she knows i'm a church-goer) over the week-end and she started to.
Heart-breaking experience, my sympathy goes to you and your brother.
I've experienced very similar treatment from both my parents, one with bad dementia (non-JW) and the other a deluded, fanatical die-hard and judgmental JW to the end. Basically I'm now parentless though both parents are still alive and have just decided to view it philosophically.
It's best not to be too sentimental and emotional in such situations, as painful as it is.
Focus your energies and love on those who appreciate it.
i have a sweet jw friend.
she is elderly and had heart problems and is hard of hearing.. she is a tiny thing and very loving.
she is a convert and had been "in" for around 20 years.. she came "in "after her divorce.. we started hanging out together a couple years ago when i called her for a ride to the meetings.. .
That's a sweet story.
How old is she?
I think she is experiencing real cognitive dissonance and deep-down just wants to quit the JWs altogether, as you do.
Have you both poured out your hearts to each other on this?

i don't think right and true is "universal" other than what is right and true for people.
a dolphin or a praying mantis may have alien perceptions of what is "good".
Philosophy of ethics 101.
The foundation of all morality is simply compassion and empathy. We reject that which causes suffering to others out of empathetic recognition that the suffering of another is the same suffering we could experience and must avoid.
The great 20th century philospher Karl Popper author of "The Open Society"considered that the moral obligation of human society is to eliminate the worst kinds of suffering. Therefore, humanity's moral agenda is to eliminate starvation, war, etc.
To put it simply, a 'morally upright' life is perfectly summed up by the Dalai Lama below. It is a life which reduces the suffering of others, but if that cannot be achieved, then it at least does not add to the suffering of others.
on seeing the horrifying scene of world trade centre being attacked and knowing the pain of those trapped in and their loved ones, not only in new york but across the world millions of people turned into silence, prayer, and meditation.
they gathered on the streets, lit candles, wrote condolence, anything to feel solidarity and to spread a wave of love.
churches, temples, mosques and retreat centers were flooded with people seeking to raise their consciousness beyond the senseless killing to a higher, more noble plane.
Define 'spiritual' exactly?
Human beings have common feelings of compassion and empathy. Compassion is the foundation of all morality.
Everyone, pagan and Christian alike, have a conscience as a moral guide(refer Romans 2:14-16). Your conscience is a much surer guide than any false ancient scripture replete with God-sanctioned moral atrocities that abuse natural conscience.
Even the 10 commandments are inferior to what our conscience naturally tells us. Pygmie tribes in remote Amazon jungles have a morality dictated by natural conscience, compassion and the need for sympathetic common social ties to thrive.
That is is our 'innate spirituality'.
Throw away your ancient 'sacred scriptures' and traditional organised religion. You don't need them. They actually distort natural spirituality, pervert it.
If you are the progeny of some external supreme being, then you are made in an IMAGE reflected in your mind and heart and DNA. That image is all your need to tap into. Follow that image and you are truly spiritual. The truth really is in your heart after all.

i have always wondered why alot of jw's that i know are really into alot of sci-fi stuff like star wars, i robot, x-men stuff etc.
i mean they take it another level with this fantasy stuff.

so i was at a jw gathering today, and i over heard a brother telling a sister about these new changes.
according to him, both one day circuit assemblies will be put together on the same weekend, one on saturday, the next on sunday.
that way the assembly halls could be used to fit in more circuits as they increase in numbers.
Shameless hypocrites.
Before 1975 they were actively praising JW's who sold their homes and went pioneering in the 'short time remaining' of this wicked system, now here they are decades later making long-term plans to expand their religious construction/property money-raking empire, all built on the voluntary labour of mostly the young.

it's really sad that jws only ever see the bad things in the world and are either unable or unwilling to acknowledge that now is the safest and most prosperous time in all of human history to have ever lived.
